level 1 Most of the Hawaiian locals can talk like a mainlander, but once they get drunk and they are with their buddies... Ho brah - Howzit? It is a pride thing too. Locals will talk in pidgin in certain situations to get something they want. For example, negotiating price over a craigslist deal, getting out of traffic tickets, ect. level 1 Jesus Christ this thread is so cringeworthy. I'm actually born and raised in Hawaii. My family has been here for over 100 years. The people like Makua are insecure and overly exaggerate their accents. It's clear as day and everyone else from Hawaii knows it. Dustin Barca from Kauai is the same way. And he's not even an ounce Hawaiian and on his Instagram he pretends he's full blooded Hawaiian. Most people from Hawaii are normal and talk normal. Some talk a little bit pigeon but Makuas is very clearly exaggerated. Most people in Hawaii think the north shore is full of clowns anyway. It's a bunch of transplants living in a bubble (same with north shore Kauai and hanalei).
